Digital Transformation for the Retail Industry
In the United States no less than 6,000 stores closed in 2017
And obviously it is online commerce that is being pointed at and rightly so. If several sectors of our economy have been slow to begin their transformation to digital it is in my opinion more due to our industrial structure than to the vision of our managers. And the retail sector is unfortunately no exception. Let’s remove Couche Tard, Métro, Jean Coutu, SAQ, Aldo and a few others from our major retail brands and we end up, on average, with chains of 25, 30, 50 stores? This size of business does not allow for the necessary budgets for major transformation projects. The Quebec government’s help is therefore more than welcome!
